Deadline to meet

Any application for a residence permit (renewal or change of status) filed on the ANEF https://administration-etrangers-en-france.interieur.gouv.fr less than 2 months before the expiry of this title will be subject to a late fee of 180, to pay in addition to the cost of renewing your residence permit!

Moreover, if you submit your application without meeting the deadlines, you are exposed to an interruption of your rights to residence, to work, to social rights (CAF housing aid for example) and to crossing Schengen borders, when the previous residence card is expired and your application is not dealt with yet.

To avoid paying a late fee, you must file your renewal application between 2 and 4 months before the expiry date of your residence permit or long-stay visa (VLS-TS).
If a document is missing at the time of your application (for example, if you do not yet have your last transcripts or your education certificate), you must still submit your file and replace the missing document with a brief letter explaining your situation (for example: “my registration will take place only in September and I do not yet have a school certificate”).
You will be asked to complete your application at a later date, when your file is processed by an officer in your local prefecture.
Attention: please respond to any request within the time limit (usually 30 days), otherwise your request will be closed. If you still do not have the requested document, respond with a brief letter , if possible with indicating when you will obtain this document, preferably with any supporting proof (a certificate of your school for instance).

The application filed after the date of expiry of the title shall remain admissible until 6 months after the date of expiry of the residence permit, but the late fee shall be applied.
