To support your budget, the French government offers financial assistance to reduce your rent. As a key partner of the CAF (Caisse d'allocations familiales), acc&ss is here to help you with the administrative process (from creating your account to applying for personal housing assistance).

CREATE YOUR CAF ACCOUNT

If this is your first time applying for CAF assistance in France, your first step will be to create an account on the "espace personnel" at caf.fr.

How to create a caf account ?

1️⃣ Access : On caf.fr, click on the "Aides et démarches" (Benefits and procedures) tab, then on "Accéder à mes démarches" (Access my procedures).

2️⃣Start your application : Choose the relevant benefit and click on "Faire la demande" (Apply)

3️⃣Registration: On the new page, select "Créer un compte" (Create an account).

4️⃣Identity: Enter your personal information (surname, first names, date and place of birth, contact details, etc.).

5️⃣Security: Enter the verification code received by email or SMS, then create your password.

Your account has now been created. You can now submit your application for benefits and track the progress of your requests.

💡Good to know: If you already have a FranceConnect account, you can use it to simplify the creation of your access.

Focus: The Social Security Number

This is a vital part of your application. Here is how to proceed depending on your situation:

🔹 You do not have a number yet : Simply check the box "Je ne dispose pas de numéro de sécurité sociale" (I do not have a social security number) and continue with the process.

🔹Specific ID : In most cases, the CAF will issue you a dedicated social security number. Please note: this number is used exclusively to log in to your CAF account; it is different from the number used for health insurance (Assurance Maladie).

🔹Limited Interface : Without a permanent social security number, your account features will be restricted, and you will not have access to all functionalities. However, rest assured that your application has been successfully submitted and is being processed.

Once you have received your permanent number :

As soon as the Health Insurance (Assurance Maladie) sends you your permanent social security number, you must create a new CAF account.

The Method : Use your new social security number and a different email address from the one used for your first account.
The Benefit : You will then gain access to the full CAF interface, allowing you to track your entire file and manage all your details.

APPLYING FOR HOUSING ASSISTANCE

Once your account has been created, you can start your application. Your eligibility and the amount of aid (APL, ALF, or ALS) depend on your income, your personal situation, and the characteristics of your accommodation.

Acc&ss Tip: Don't wait! Submit your application as soon as you move in. The CAF considers the online application date, not the date you signed your lease. Please note that there will be a processing delay before the first payment is made.

1. Estimate your benefits

Before you start, we recommend running a simulation to help you plan your budget:
👉 Run a simulation on the CAF website

2. Prepare your documents

An incomplete file will delay the processing of your application. Please have the following documents scanned and ready:

• Passport (or ID card) and resident permit, or visa and Confirmation of your VLS-TS visa validation
• Enrollment Certificate
•Your Carte Vitale, or your Certificate of Entitlement (Attestation de droits), or your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC/CEAM).
Attestation de loyer ou de résidence en foyer.
• Bank details (RIB)
• For EU Citizens: A Sworn Statement of Sufficient Financial Resources (Attestation sur l'honneur de ressources financières suffisantes).

3. Start your online application

Log in to caf.fr, go to "Mes démarches" (My procedures), then select "Aide au logement" (Housing assistance) under the "Faire une demande de prestation" (Apply for a benefit) section. Fill in the required information until you reach the final validation.

💡Please note: If you move, you must report your change of address in your CAF account and submit a new application for housing assistance.

Payments and Assistance

Benefits are generally paid at the beginning of each month.
