For the 16th consecutive year, the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris and the Crous de Paris are setting up a multi-service welcome area for foreign students and researchers, from the end of August through November, with the support of the City of Paris and the Île-de-France Region.

The welcome area allows you to carry out your administrative procedures and receive the necessary advice and information for your study or research stay in France.

In 2018, the Welcome Desk Paris will be open from September 10th until November 23th.

Desks open from Monday to Friday, from 9am until 4.30pm (the Prefecture de Police de Paris and OFII desks will close at 4 pm on Friday), and are located in the basement of the Maison Internationale (follow the signs from the main entrance hall) at the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris.

What to do at the Welcome Service for International Students ?

  • hand out the required documents and obtain an appointment with OFII in order to validate your student visa,
  • claim for your first student permit (specific visa cases) and for a temporary stay permit (APS) with the Prefecture de Police de Paris,
  • apply for financial housing assistance with CAF,
  • get informed on work permit (with DIRECCTE), student health insurance (LMDESMEREP et CPAM), transports (with RATP), job counseling & orientation (with Pôle Emploi), scholarships and social aids (with CROUS),
  • special information days on  health security and culture by the International Social Centeron 11/10 and employment forums on 26th, 27th, 28th september & 10th, 11th, 12th october in CROUS de Paris.

The CRECI (Prefecture de Police de Paris) is by appointment only.

Welcome, information and support

The acc&ss Paris Centre team and multi-lingual foreign students will answer your questions regarding your stay in France (Spoken languages: French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, Dutch, Wolof and Mandarin).

Residence permit

Agents from the Préfecture de Police de Paris will inform and guide you to complete your administrative procedures with regard to:

  • Initial student residence permit (Algerian students and researchers living in Paris).
  • Renewal of the student residence permit upon presenting their appointment letter (except for current CiuP residents).

Visa validation

Agents of the Office Français de l’Immigration et de l’Intégration (OFII) will register your OFII application in order to validate your visa if you live in Paris and if you have a “Long stay visa equivalent to a residence permit” (Ref: R311-3 6° or 9°of the CESEDA). This process is mandatory and must be carried out within 3 months after arriving in France.

Financial housing assistance

The staff from the Caisse d’Allocations Familiales (CAF) will help you to complete and submit your online application.

Housing regulations

A legal advisor from the Agence Départementale d’Information sur le logement (ADIL75) will inform you about your rights and obligations related to your lease, from your arrival in your apartment until your departure.

Health Insurance

Advisors from the Caisse Primaire de l’Assurance Maladie de Paris (CPAM) will provide new students enrolled in the academic year 2018/2019 with the necessary information about Universal Health Protection (Protection Maladie Universelle). (Affiliation to health insurance, reimbursements, referring doctor, vital card, CMUC, prevention …)

Complementary health insurance providers

The Mutual Health Insurance Provider for Students in the Paris Region (Société Mutualiste des Etudiants de la Région Parisienne – SMEREP) wiil inform you on your healthcare-related procedures (reimbursements, complementary healthcare plans, prevention), and offers additional student insurance plans (civil liability, housing, car / motorcycle, travel).

Work permit

A representative from the Direction du Travail (DIRECCTE) will inform you about temporary work permits, legislation for working students and the procedure for a change of resident status from student to employee.

Crous de Paris

The Crous de Paris staff will give you information on student housing, grants, the CVEC, social assistance, family allowances, health insurance, university restaurants, language courses, sport and culture.
Also at the Crous, a multilingual team can help and guide you with your procedures.
